Macuscope
Measures Macular Protective Pigment Density, or MPPD, in a very quick test. Low MPPD is a major, modifiable risk factor for macular degeneration. Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss for people over the age of 50 in the Western world. It currently affects more than 30 million people worldwide, and it is expected that this number will triple in the next 20 years. If undetected, the risk of developing macular degeneration is 30% by the age of 75. Macular Protective Pigment helps protect patients from macular degeneration by acting as our “internal sunglasses”. It is a layer of carotenoids that filters out damaging blue light and neutralizes harmful free radicals. Early detection and monitoring of MPPD, prior to the symptoms of macular degeneration occurring, is critical to preserving vision. If a patient has low amounts of MPPD, supplementation with specific vitamins can increase the amount of MPPD a patient has. Macuhealth vitamins offer all 3 of the pigments known to make up the macular protective pigment. Regular intake of Macuhealth has been shown to restore macular pigment to normal levels (40% increase in MPPD over a 6 month period) to help guard against macular degeneration starting in the first place. We have a very large selection of glasses, including many sunglasses. Our sunglass line includes the Rudy Project line of sports sunglasses(One of the few sunglass lines out there where you can put your prescription into a “wrapped,” or very curved, frame), a large collection of Rayban sunglasses, Coach sunglasses, as well as magnetic clip-on sunglasses. We can make prescription sunglasses as well. Our regular glasses lines include Guess, Coach, Rayban, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, Carrera, Ted Baker, Tura, Modo, and Safilo. We carry petite frames for smaller women, as well as XL frames for larger men, & everything in between.
Insurances
We take many insurances, including Vision Service Plan(VSP), Eyemed, Blue View Vision, Vision Care Plan(VCP), Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, & Caresource. We will file any other insurances for you that allow us to do so. We will always give you an itemized receipt for what you have paid, as many insurances will allow you to pay out of pocket and simply send in this receipt to get reimbursed.
